Meet the Designer
Hans J. Wegner was a Danish furniture designer known for his mastery of wood craftsmanship and his modernist approach to design. Born in 1914 in Tønder, Denmark, Wegner initially trained as a cabinetmaker before studying at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen. After graduating, he worked as a furniture designer for various firms before establishing his own studio in 1943.
