Originally designed in 1934 by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld, the Crate collection has been reissued by HAY and reworked for today by Rolf Hay and Mette Hay. The collection keeps the spirit of the original design while making it suitable for contemporary outdoor living.
Made from solid pine, each piece has a slatted construction that allows air and water to pass through easily, making it well suited to gardens, patios, and terraces. The design feels light and informal, but it is sturdy enough for everyday use outside. Over time the wood develops its own character, which only adds to the appeal.
