The journey of Martinelli Luce began in the late 1940s with Elio Martinelli, a set designer who crafted lamps for theatrical productions. These lamps, designed to interact with the narrative of the performances, were both decorative and technical. Recognised for their quality by Giò Ponti, Martinelli was encouraged to bring his creations to a wider audience. In 1953, with the support of his wife, Elio established Martinelli Luce in a modest basement workshop. Combining innovative materials like methacrylate with high functional performance and simple, evocative shapes, Martinelli Luce quickly distinguished itself. Today, the brand continues to honour its heritage, producing lamps that reflect a unique blend of natural inspiration and geometric precision.
