There’s always an air of excitement in the e-com office when a new product launches but it’s not so often that the product has us all in agreement over how much we all need one. Tala’s new WAKE Sleep Light is one of those rare products that has us all saying, “I want one!”

British lighting company Tala design many desirable and well-reviewed products. Their clever portable lamp The Muse is another of our favourites, however their newest launch does more than light up a room. Read on to find out why.

The Sunrise Alarm Clock like no other

Launched at the end of 2025, the WAKE Sleep Light is a collaboration between Tala and Heatherwick Studio – the multi award-winning British design and architecture studio behind London’s Coal Drops Yard. This is not just another run-of-the-mill beside table lamp or night light.

The clever design seems to do it all. Functioning as a sunrise lamp, the light can be set to gently wake you up with a gradually increasing light and a choice of four different alarm sounds. Calling these “alarm sounds” does not do them justice. They are soothing and curated with wellness in mind, rather than the intense drill of traditional alarms.

WAKE can also be used as a sleep aid, helping to promote bedtime routine. The light can be set to dim, slowly removing blue light until you are ready to sleep. There is a huge choice of 7 sleep sounds for when you need a little more help switching off.

Much more aesthetically pleasing than usual sunrise alarm clocks that often look techy or uninspiring, the Tala WAKE is pared back and minimal. Created from natural materials – premium glass and ceramic – the light has an earthy feel. Tala’s characteristic large bulb represents the sun rising and setting from the pebble white glazed base. As per usual with Tala’s products, the WAKE is sustainable and crafted in exceptional quality. The design is also easy to incorporate, undoubtably looking great in any bedroom.

A design for a better life

This product launch comes at a time where we are increasingly aware of the problems that come with being constantly online. Thomas Heatherwick (designer of the WAKE and founder of Heatherwick Studio) made the case for how detrimental mobile phones can be for our sleep cycles, suggesting they are the first thing we see when we wake up and the last thing we see at night.

To combat this, WAKE can be controlled manually, promoting phone free bedrooms. For those not ready to go that far, sleep and wake cycles can also be set on Tala’s clever app.

We love it when we see products that not only look great but tangibly improve quality of life. Who doesn’t want to a better sleep and a calming start to the day? We can immediately picture Tala’s WAKE Sleep Light in our homes and imagine the benefits it will have on our wellbeing... Perhaps we’ll all start the day in good moods and that’s why we think everyone should get one.
