At Holloways of Ludlow, we believe great design is at its best when seen in real homes. Our “Inside the Home of” series explores how creators and tastemakers use our furniture, lighting and homeware to shape their own spaces. Each feature inspires by showing how people can live with, style, and enjoy iconic pieces every day.

This month, we visit Sam and Sophie – a creative duo whose home reflects a beautiful balance of old and new. With a love for natural materials and timeless design, their interior brings together the warmth of traditional style with the clarity of contemporary minimalism.

In their living room, the Fibre 60 Pendant Light takes centre stage, adding soft, sculptural light that perfectly complements their neutral, earthy decor.

Sam and Sophie have created a home that feels calm and grounded. Whilst renovating their Victorian terrace, they have endeavoured to honour and restore the original period features but have chosen to contrast these against a contemporary colour pallet. Rich shades of sand, clay and linen form the base of their colour scheme, while wooden furniture and woven textures add depth and warmth. The result is a space that feels layered and lived-in without feeling cluttered.

Their approach to decorating is intuitive, creating a rhythm between old and new, adding a mix of handcrafted and vintage alongside modern pieces. Their choice of accessories and homeware has a rustic edge; think hand thrown pottery, carved wood and woven fabrics. These work in harmony with the interior, quietly adding interest and lending a unique personality.

Suspended above the main seating area, the Fibre 60 Pendant Light anchors the room with its tactile form and subtle presence. Crafted by hand from silk fibres, the softly curved silhouette diffuses light beautifully, casting a warm, even glow throughout the space. The pendant sits comfortably alongside the traditional detailing of the property, while its simple, modern shape keeps the look fresh and refined. The neutral beige of the shade contrasts dramatically with their choice of paint: Tarte Tan by Pickleson Paint

By pairing the Fibre 60 Pendant Light with neutral tones and organic textures, they’ve created a cohesive look that celebrates natural beauty. For a similar effect, consider using the pendant as a focal point in rooms with soft plastered walls, linen upholstery, or wooden accents. Its subtle form and gentle light make it just as at home above a dining table as it is in a relaxed living space.

Sam and Sophie’s home proves that you can create a contemporary living space whilst staying true to the style of a period property. The Fibre 60 Pendant Light ties it all together, showing that thoughtful lighting can define the atmosphere of a room, bringing a space to life.
