A new year brings something the design and interior world gets rather excited about: Pantone’s colour of the year. Each year since 2000, a new colour is selected by Pantone’s experts, considering trends in fashion, art, technology and the current global mood.

Pantone is the leading global authority on colour, creating colour standards that are used across many industries. Their research into colour and how it is used, communicated, and perceived across the world is unrivalled.

The colour of the year often influences the design we see around us in colour pallets that appear fresh and renewed. If you’re looking for design inspiration for the year ahead, Pantone’s colour of the year is a great place to start.

What is Pantone colour of the year?

2026 presents Pantone 11-4201 Cloud Dancer. This is a calming, slightly off-white tone with the slightest hint of stone grey, described as a “lofty” and “billowy” white. You may think that white is an unexpected choice, but it comes as a reflection of the global urge to slow down and rediscover quiet reflection after years of visual overload. Think blank canvas, reset or space to breathe.

Cloud Dancer is a colour that invites contemplation and creativity. On its own, it offers visual clarity and lightness, without being too harsh or clinical. Paired with other colours, it becomes a canvas that can hold an eclectic mix together.

2026 Colour Pallets for Cloud Dancer

Pantone suggests pairing Cloud Dancer with pastel tones for a calming space with uplifting and ethereal notes. It also works well with earthy tones like rich ochres, terracotta and verdant greens. Cloud Dancer can become a key shade in a neutral interior, lifting soft beiges and adding some gentle contrast.

The versatility of this colour is endless within an interior. It doesn’t confine you to a certain décor style, instead allowing you the freedom to be as subdued or clashing as you please. For more inspiration, see more of Pantone’s colour of the year 2026 pallets.

Our Pantone Inspired Collection

Renew and update your space by adding some Cloud Dancer-inspired pieces to your interior. Here are 8 of our favourites; each one timeless and easy to incorporate with existing décor.

Lighting

Patricia Lobo Lluvi Pendant Light

Patricia Lobo’s Lluvi Pendant in Shell is showstopping without being too out-there. This handmade ceramic shade has rounded organic curves and emits a soft light when switched on.

In keeping with Cloud Dancer’s calming nature, the Lluvi pendant adds understated style to a room. It holds its own in a neutral colour scheme but can also be paired with bright accents. Hang over a dining table or use as the main light source for a bright and airy living space.

Tom Dixon Pose Table Lamp

The Pose Table Lamp by Tom Dixon is an angular design that sits well in modern and contemporary styled interiors. Available in a range of muted hues, the shade Putty mirrors Cloud Dancer’s off-white and slightly stoney tone.

This lamp is excellent placed in creative spaces as it can be precisely adjusted, offering optimal task lighting for working and reading. A smaller, portable Pose Lamp is also available to create a layered lighting scheme.

Seating

MAKE nordic Basecamp with Chaise Longue

If you’re looking to update your sofa, MAKE nordic’s Basecamp collection ticks all the boxes. There is a huge choice of configurations, allowing you to suit your space requirements perfectly. Our favourite option is the three-seater with chaise. The modern, simplistic design has plenty of room to relax and accommodate family and friends.

For a nod to the Pantone colour of the year, fabric choice Vidar 146 has the same cloud-like properties. This calming tone anchors a room and draws attention to the softness of the sofa. Add vibrant coloured cushions to add personality or keep to neutral tones for a serine space.

Case Furniture Ella Lounge Chair & Ottoman

Designed by Matthew Hilton the Ella Lounge Chair by Case Furniture strikes the perfect balance between timeless and statement. Hilton’s designs do not follow trends. Instead, he focuses on function and liveability, whilst still creating pieces that have presence.

The Ella Lounge Chair has a beautiful, cocooned shape with attention to detail that won it a German Design Award. With the matching Ella ottoman, these pieces combined add a contemporary and fresh update to any reading nook or relaxation area.

MOEBE Rectangular Extendable Dining Table

MOEBE’s thoughtful designs have adaptability at their core. Always built with sustainability in mind, their pieces are made to grow and change, keeping up with the requirements of family life. Their Rectangular Dining Table not only has a beautiful finish but can be bought with a number of extension plates, making it a versatile choice for households who enjoy hosting friends and family.

The table can be configured with a durable, coloured laminate top. The Warm Beige option has a clean and crisp look that really compliments the natural wood of the table. Combine with matching oak dining chairs or create your own colour pallet by playfully clashing colours.

Mustard Made The Collector Locker

Instead of cluttering a space, choosing a neutral colour for your storage cabinets can open up the room. The Collector Locker by Mustard Made comes in the perfect shade of Chalk and combined with the fluted glass doors, it offers a light and airy place to store your favourite things without completely hiding them away.

In a similar way to Cloud Dancer, the Chalk colour can lift a neutral colour palette adding soft contrast without looking stark. This colour also works in bright interiors, creating visual space and preventing overwhelm.

Homeware

HAY Barro Plates

New crockery is an easy way to revitalise your dining space. HAY’s ever popular Barro Plates have a beautiful simplicity with their pleasing round shape and rolled edge detailing. Crafted in Portugal from terracotta and glazed in high gloss, the plates add an artisanal touch to the dinner table.

Even small touches of earthy white can uplift a space. The Barro Plates in Off White make mealtimes a pleasure with their crisp and tactile simplicity. Even better, they come in a set of two.

HAY Colour Crates

HAY’s Colour Crates are a staple in any design conscious or creative household. Made from 100% post-consumer plastic, these versatile storage crates can be used almost anywhere. Use them to organise your kitchen, office, bedroom, bathroom and even garage.

They look just as good arranged on shelves as they do stacked up like the traditional vegetable crates the design is based on. The Off-White HAY Colour Crate is an easy way to add a little of 2026’s colour of the year into your space. Mix and match colours or keep to off-white for calming organisation.

Pantone’s colour of the year proves that colour choice can really update a space and influence the mood of a room. Whether you’re completely redecorating or just need a little refresh, adding a nod to Cloud Dancer can uplift a space that’s feeling a little heavy or create some calm in a cluttered interior.
