Tom Dixon

Forward-thinking designs for everyday use

A fusion of innovative materials and creative design, luxury British design brand Tom Dixon produces a stunning portfolio of sculptural and functional lighting to make any home a haven of style. This is Tom Dixon.

History

Since its founding in 2002, Tom Dixon has become globally recognised for its captivating portfolio of opulent designs.

Named for its Creative Director and founder, self-taught, leading designer Tom Dixon, the eponymous brand reflects Dixon’s own pioneering innovation. Rising to prominence in the mid-1980s, Tom Dixon accidentally fell into design while recovering from a motorcycle accident. Today, Dixon is internationally heralded as a significantly original talent and one of the industry’s most respected British designers, having been awarded an OBE by Her Majesty the Queen for his services to British design in 2001, the ‘Designer of The Year’ at Maison & Objet in 2014, and a silver medal for Best Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show as well as the prestigious London Design Medal at the British Land Celebration of Design Awards in 2019.

Product Style

Intrinsically inspired by British design, Tom Dixon’s products are internationally heralded for their innovative use of new techniques and materials, particularly metals and stone. The brand has a significant fascination with copper which has led to many of their most recognisable lighting and accessory designs: some of the company’s brass luminaires have mirror-polished surfaces, while others are un-lacquered, hand-beaten and intentionally imperfect, proving the flexibility and versatility of the semi-precious metal. Tough stainless steel is also loved for its hardwearing, reflective nature that never tarnishes, providing superior functionality to a variety of lamps and pendants.

Iconic Designs

Melt pendant

The dazzling Melt pendant light is part of Tom Dixon’s Melt range, designed to capture the organic beauty of traditional glass blown shades. Featuring a unique, vacuum moulded glass shade, the pendant appears reflective when turned off and translucent when switched on, creating a visual similar to molten lava or golden amber. Positioned above a dining table or living room, the Melt pendant light is a truly awe-inspiring statement luminaire that will bathe any space in an ethereal glow.

Stone table light

Tom Dixon’s beautiful Stone table light has been expertly crafted from white Morwad marble, the same material as the Taj Mahal. The light comprises a halo hollowed from semi-precious marble mounted on a tube with a ‘floating’ brass tipped bulb at the centre. Tough yet tactile, the stone appears semi-translucent due to its incredibly thin depth, emphasising the unique veins of the marble and casting a downward illumination onto the surface below. An opulent statement for any modern office, bedroom or living room, the Stone table light blends the functionality of a table light with the sculptural attraction of a work of art.

Wingback armchair

The Wingback armchair reimagines the traditional 17th century Wingback design for the 21st century home. Originally developed for the Shoreditch House Members Club, the chair comprises a tall back, sturdy armrests, short legs and new, expressive sweeping curves which allow it to stand out as a sculptural intervention as well as a piece of seating. The Wingback armchair offers convenient acoustic protection for mobile phone use or a headrest for quick naps while providing an extremely sophisticated aesthetic and form.
