Robert Dudley Best
Born in 1954 in Milan, Rodolfo Dordoni is a trained architect whose work spans art direction, exhibitions, show rooms, architectural planning, and lamp designs. Former art director for the renowned Italian brands, Artemide and Capellini, Rodolfo Dordoni is best known for his lighting collections in collaboration with Foscarini and Flos. Here at Holloways of Ludlow, we are proud to sell his timeless lamps that are featured in the permanent collections of the MoMA in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
Heavily influenced by the then revolutionary Bauhaus school, Best’s lighting designs conformed perfectly to its manifesto: function and simplicity that blurs the boundaries between industrialisation and aesthetic works of art. For this reason, the Bestlite was highly sought-after, and even famously owned by Winston Churchill. In continuous production since 1930, the Bestlite is still designed and manufactured in Birmingham, and has retained its industrial feel despite the passing of time. All of this has been made possible thanks to the renowned Danish firm, Gubi, who now acts as the conservator of the Bestlite brand.

Ray Small Floor Light
Inspired by the form of a lighthouse, the Ray F1 floor lamp offers a modern take on a classic design.
