Pier Giacomo Castiglioni

The son of a prominent Milanese sculptor, Pier Giacomo Castiglioni was an architect and designer who left an enduring contribution to Italian design. Born in 1913, he established his own design practice with his younger brother, Achille in 1944 and was dedicated to creating visuallly appealing yet technically innovative designs. A prominent contributor to the 1950s and 60s renaissance period for modern Italian design, Pier Giacomo collaborated with famous Italian manufacturers, including Flos for lighting and Zanotta for furniture, before his untimely death in 1968.
