Fritz Hansen

A union of classic and contemporary designs

Founded on a belief that a single piece can beautify an entire room, Fritz Hansen designs simple, sculptural and original furniture to inspire and enhance the wellbeing of those who see it. This is Fritz Hansen.

Fritz Hansen has been at the forefront of Danish and international furniture design and innovation since it was founded in 1872.

Established by visionary cabinetmaker Fritz Hansen a century and a half ago, the eponymous brand has built a reputation for exquisite craftsmanship, innovative design and premium quality. As early as 1900, Christian E. Hansen, son of Fritz Hansen, started to experiment with steam bending beech, a technique which was so refined that by the 1930s the company stood among the world leaders in the field, eventually specialising in laminate wood furniture. Fritz and Christian initiated the level of quality that set the benchmark for Fritz Hansen’s luxurious products ever since. With an ever-expanding collection of iconic designs, the brand continues to create timelessly beautiful, functional furniture that unites classic and contemporary designs with innovative techniques and new materials - all thanks to visionaries like Arne Jacobsen, Kasper Salto, Cecilie Manz, and today’s leading designers.

Product Style

While Fritz Hansen’s Contemporary Collection features new furniture and accessory designs from some of today’s most inspiring, internationally recognized modern designers, the distinguished Classic Collection comprises a number of the most iconic furniture pieces from renowned Danish architects and designers. The two collections blur the lines between design and art with a shared sculptural artistic expression that unites function and form to give each piece presence and purpose. Even the most minute of details is carefully thought out in the thorough process that affords every product a high finish look that is at once unique and instantly recognizable. Fritz Hansen designs for people who want to make a statement that is entirely their own with a taste for style, understated luxury and a desire to strengthen their own identity.
