Achille Castiglioni

Born in 1918 the son of a prominent Milanese sculptor, Achille Castiglioni was an architect and designer who left an enduring contribution to Italian design until his death in 2002. Establishing a design practice with his older brother, Pier Giacomo, in 1944, Achille was a prominent contributor to the 1950s and 60s renaissance period for modern Italian design.

Dedicated to creating visually appealing, yet technically innovative designs, Achille also experimented with new materials and techniques for industrial production. His impressive output, which continued after his brother's untimely death, included collaborations with famous Italian manufacturers, including Flos for lighting, Zanotta for furniture, and Alessi for home goods.
