Maarten Baas
A graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven, Maarten Baas is considered to be one of the most influential designers of the beginning of the 21st century. Somewhere on the boundary between art and design, his work is playful yet intellectual.
His most recognised work is his 2002 graduation project, Smoke - now part of Moooi's collection. Here, he used fire to "re-sculpt" a series of Victorian furniture pieces until they became charred.
