Giancarlo Mattioli

Giancarlo Mattioli (1933-2018) is an Italian designer who rose to fame during Italy's modern design renaissance in the 1950s and 60s. After winning the Studio Artemide Domus competition in 1965 in Milan, Mattioli and his architecture firm, Città Nuova launched onto the design scene creating pieces for Artemide as well as many other luxury Italian brands. His most famous work, which won him the competition and is now exhibited at museums around the world, was the Nesso Table Lamp.
