Hans J. Wegner
Hans J. Wegner
One of the 20th century's most prolific designers, Danish designer Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007) designed over 500 different chairs during his lifetime. Over 100 of his designs were put into mass production, and many are considered icons.
Beginning his career as a cabinetmaker in 1931, Wegner went on to study architecture before opening his own studio with the goal of "making unexceptional things of an exceptionally high quality". In 1949 Wegner established a partnership with Carl Hansen & Søn, where he went on to design some of his most iconic creations that are still revered today.
