Bouroullec Brothers

Born in 1971 and 1976 respectively, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec grew up on a farm in Brittany before attending France’s most prestigious academies of fine art, and ultimately becoming the most internationally acclaimed duo in today’s design world.

Establishing their own Paris-based design studio in 1999, the Bouroullec Brothers insist the best way they work is together. Because creativity does not come from a rational point of view, but an emotional one, Erwan and Ronan cherish the fact that they can discuss their creativity openly and honestly until they find the balance they need for their designs. The primary focus of their work is the design and organisation of interior space, and they take their inspiration from organic forms to create pieces that seamlessly integrate into both natural and urban environments.

Their work ranges from the design of domestic and office furniture to vases, porcelain and diverse home accessories. They have collaborated with numerous renowned product manufacturers, including Vitra, Kvadrat, Alessi, Cappellini, Herman Miller, and Established & Sons, not to mention their work has been exhibited in museums around the world.

Aim Pendant Light

Modelled after a climbing plant, the Aim pendant light was designed to fill any space with a literal tangle of vibrant illumination. Sleek aluminium and anodised steel rose-bud shaped pendants hang from long black cables that can adjust the height and direction of the light source. The industrial yet organic Aim emits an even, steady light making it the perfect lighting solution for offices, kitchens, dressing rooms, hallways, and hotel lobbies. The ultimate in versatile lighting, one can choose from a range of configurations to achieve one’s desired result - be it a stand alone pendant draped from the ceiling or a playfully intertwined cluster.

Palissade Dining Armchair

Crafted to “hold the body in balance”, the Palissade dining armchair is part of the Bouroullec Brothers contemporary outdoor collection for HAY. Constructed out of durable steel and featuring a slim, curving frame and a streamlined, slatted seat and back, this modern armchair is at once visually light yet reassuringly strong. By combining an archetypal furniture reference with a simplicity of form, the Bouroullec’s have produced an instant classic that is as at home in the cityscape as it is in the countryside.

Palissade Cone Dining Table

Designed to complement the Palissade outdoor furniture collection, the Cone dining table shares the same visual language but maintains its uniqueness in a structure that is all its own. A trifecta of symmetrical geometry, visual simplicity and core strength, the Cone’s ultra-thin steel tabletop sits atop a stabilising concrete base that is strong without being bulky. By having a lower center of gravity, the Cone has a smaller footprint than most dining tables. Elegant, modern, and available in two calming earth tones, the table suits both natural and urban environments. It is also powder-steel coated for optimal durability against the elements.
